Have you ever wanted to draw the lovable and goofy dog from the Garfield universe? In this fun tutorial, we’ll learn how to draw Baby Odie Garfield using simple shapes and easy steps. Don’t worry if you’re a beginner—just follow along, and you’ll have an adorable Baby Odie drawing in no time!

Start by drawing a slightly tilted rectangle for Odie’s head. Then add a horizontal oval overlapping the lower part of the rectangle to create his muzzle. These basic shapes will help you build the character’s proportions.
Draw a long quadrilateral shape extending downward from the head. This will become Odie’s long and playful neck.
Draw an oval shape near the bottom of the neck. Keep it small and rounded to match Baby Odie’s cute appearance.
Sketch two rectangular guides for the legs overlapping the body. Then add oval shapes at the ends to form Odie’s large cartoon-style paws. Draw two front paws and two back paws.
Add a small curved tail at the back of the body. Keep it short and slightly pointed upward.
Draw a rounded rectangle on top of the head as a guide. Then add two large floppy oval ears. Odie’s oversized ears are one of his most recognizable features.
Draw a long curved shape running down the neck area to create Odie’s open mouth. This gives him his cheerful and energetic expression.
Inside the open mouth, add a rounded tongue hanging out. This playful detail makes Baby Odie look even more adorable.
Using the construction shapes as guides, trace the outer contour of the character. Smooth out sharp corners and connect the shapes into one clean drawing. Erase any unnecessary guide lines as you go.
Draw Odie’s large eyes, nose, eyebrows, and the small tufts of fur behind his head. Add simple curved lines on the paws to show the toes and give the drawing more personality.
Color Baby Odie using his classic colors. Use light yellow for the body, brown for the ears, black for the nose and fur tufts, and pinkish-red for the tongue. Add soft shading if you’d like extra depth.
You did it! Your Baby Odie Garfield drawing is now complete. Keep practicing these simple shape-building techniques, and you’ll find it easier to draw other cartoon characters too. Have fun creating and don’t forget to add your own creative touch to make your Odie extra special!
