Start with a large round shape for the head.

Add two curved guidelines across the circle. These will help you place the eyes, nose, and other facial features later.

Keep your first sketch light and simple.

Draw a second large oval behind the head to create the body.

Let the body slightly overlap the head. Keep the shape big, round, and soft to create the cute proportions of Il Cacto Hipototamo.

Sketch four short legs underneath the body.
